One of the best parts of the work we do at Passoni is meeting clients, crafting bicycles with them, and sharing our love for craftsmanship and simplicity. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that at the start of September, our Atelier will be hosting a group of riders from Signature Cycles, as part of their epic cycling tour of the Swiss Alps and Lake Como with Thomson Bike Tours. To spend time with them and share our passion for titanium will be a true pleasure, and not to be missed. You can join this tour too, and meet Passoni’s artisans by signing up here.
This visit will play a part of a larger journey across Switzerland and Northern Italy, with an itinerary curated by Signature. As one of our best dealers in North America, Signature are great friends of Passoni, conducting world class bike fittings for our clients in the East Coast of the USA. They will be spending 8 days riding the iconic climbs and alpine passes of the Swiss Alps, as well as the shores and surrounding hills of Lake Como, all regions close to the heart of Passoni.
Beginning with warm-up rides around Lugano on the first day, the trip then transitions on Day 2 into larger climbs on forested roads around the lake, crossing in and out of Italy. Once that ride is finished, Signature will be conducting an exclusive lunch and factory visit with technical clothing experts Assos, another excellent manufacturer in this cycling-rich area.
Day 3 will start to get into some real climbs, with a remote, forested road coiling up the east side of the Lago Maggiore and up the Alpa di Neggia. After a thrilling descent back into Locarno, a restful night at a beautiful hotel will be needed before Day 4, the true Queen stage of the trip. The three ultimate Swiss climbs, beginning with the iconic cobbles of the St. Gotthardpass, then onto the wild and challenging Furkapass and finishing on the high and majestic Nufenenpass. This will be a day that will live long the memory all the riders.
A long, easy spin the next day will follow this epic ride, with only one mountain to conquer, the Passo di San Bernardino, another Swiss icon. From there, the next day will take the riders down the Splugen pass, rolling through spectacular alpine valleys into our home of Lake Como. The final day of the tour will be just as breathtaking as the last, featuring the Holy ride of the Ghisallo loop, including the mandatory stop at the Ghisallo Chapel, a shrine dedicated to the heroes of the Giro d’Italia. Following this will be Signature’s visit to our Atelier, finishing this wonderful journey with a unique insight into our craft and manufacturing.
Technology and tradition, mountains and lakes, this unique and special trip will have everything a cyclist can dream of, and we hope to see you there. There are still final places remaining on this stunning tour — click here for more information on the trip, and to get your place before July 31.
